Memorizing Scripture is Sweet
Each month, JCA students work on memorizing a passage of scripture. The first passage they memorized this school year was Psalm 103:15-22. Students at JCA Main that achieved their goal were rewarded with Mr. Appell’s famous soft serve ice cream. They memorized Isaiah 40:28- 31 in October, and students are currently working on memorizing their next passage of scripture – Acts 1:6-11.
Psalm 103:15-22 (NIV):
15The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field;
16the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
17But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
19The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
20Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
21Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.
22Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion.
JCA now in multiple Iowa High School Associations
As we look to the future with a desire to provide a more robust experience for our high schoolers, JCA has joined Iowa High School Associations in Athletics, Speech and Music. Lord willing, this will allow our students the opportunity to compete against other high schools and even at the state level. This can also create future opportunities for our students as they included it on college applications and resumes. Stay tuned in with us in expectation that God will use this to enable JCA students to succeed for His glory.
Fall MAP Testing
Students in grades 1-10 completed the first Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment in early October. MAP assessments will be administered at the beginning and end of each school year. These assessments will help us identify individual student needs and measure their growth in each grade. You could say this is another checkpoint on the map to reach our destination of academic excellence.
Partner Day
Fall Partner Days have come and gone. We had a wonderful turnout at all three campuses. Partners and new student parents joined us for chapel, refreshments and classroom activities. It’s always good when the people that love our schools and students get to see how God is moving at JCA up close.
2026 Annual Banquet
Planning is already underway for our Annual Banquet on March 27, 2026. Our Banquet is put together by the many hands and feet of Jesus at JCA. This coming spring, we look forward to showcasing our students’ growth and sharing where God is leading our school. Please put this date on your calendar and get ready to celebrate another year with us.
