Fall Field Trips
Pumpkin Patch Outings
Fall is a beautiful time for field trips and our students had a great time outside of the classroom with their classmates. Multiple grades at two of our JCA campuses were able to go to Howell’s Pumpkin Patch in October where they got to run, jump and play the day away. Students even got to interact with the farm animals and each child was blessed to go home with their own pumpkin.
Memorizing Scripture is Sweet
Each month, JCA students work on memorizing a passage of scripture. The first passage they memorized this school year was Psalm 103:15-22. Students at JCA Main that achieved their goal were rewarded with Mr. Appell’s famous soft serve ice cream. They memorized Isaiah 40:28- 31 in October, and students are currently working on memorizing their next passage of scripture – Acts 1:6-11.
Family Nights
Every fall, our teachers plan a family night event to connect and engage with students’ families. As usual, our phenomenal teachers did a wonderful job. JCA Main was busy with literacy-themed activities. JCA South gathered together for a fun fall festival. Our West campus invited families to bring special dishes to celebrate the different cultures represented at their heritage dinner.
Volleyball
As we look to the future with a desire to provide a more robust experience for our high schoolers, JCA has joined Iowa High School Associations in Athletics, Speech and Music. JCA is already seeing fruit of this labor as our young women completed their first season of JV and Varsity volleyball in October. We are really pleased with the interest and participation of our Lady Warriors. Lord willing, these ladies will continue to lead JCA into many more successful seasons to come.
Learning Safety and Servanthood
Fire and Police Department Visits
JCA students at all three campuses learned about our public service heroes with visits from police officers and firefighters. Kids had a blast exploring the firetruck and getting a look inside a police cruiser. Join JCA as we pray for our public servants and ask God to cultivate servant hearts in us as we grow in Christ and serve in our communities.
JCA Partners with local ministries to help address food insecurity.
JCA is excited to partner with Love INC and The Church at Union Park to provide Thankful Boxes for families who might not otherwise enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. This collaborative effort is an excellent way for our school to be doers of the Word and representatives of Christ in our community. JCA is collecting most of the food items while Love INC is providing the turkey vouchers. JCA high school students will package the boxes and the Church at Union Park will distribute the boxes to families in our community.
2026 Annual Banquet
Planning is already underway for our Annual Banquet on March 27, 2026. Our Banquet is put together by the many hands and feet of Jesus at JCA. This coming spring, we look forward to showcasing our students’ growth and sharing where God is leading our school. Please put this date on your calendar and get ready to celebrate another year with us.
Joseph’s Corner
A Note from our Head of Schools
November tends to slow me down enough to look around and remember how much God has done, at JCA and in His world. Scripture tells us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess. 5:18). That’s not a suggestion; it’s a command. Gratitude is how we remind ourselves that we’re not the ones holding everything together, God is.
I’m thankful for our teachers who pour out daily, for students learning to love God and others, and for parents who have chosen Christian education even when it requires sacrifice. I’m thankful for the generosity of so many who make JCA possible. And I’m thankful that, in a world that feels noisy and rushed, our school continues pointing students to Jesus.
My encouragement this month: make thanksgiving visible in your home. Pray out loud with your kids, memorize Scripture together, and thank God for both provision and trials that grow us. Let your children hear you say, “God has been good to us.”
Pray Without Ceasing
At JCA, we believe in the power of prayer. If you want a simple yet impactful way to get involved, we humbly ask you to join us in praying for our school.
- Praise the Lord for Gospel seeds being planted throughout our JCA community and that God would continue to grow those seeds
- Pray blessings over all of our JCA partners and supporters
- Pray for opportunities to represent Christ as a school to our community
- Please always pray for the safety, health and well-being of our students and staff
